Everything you need, in one place

Resources

The software we use, the guides we wrote, the parts we keep reaching for, and where the team's files live. Most of it is useful whether or not you are on the team.

Four places to look

If you are new and not sure which one you want, Software and Guides is the one to open first — it is where the How to Robot Book lives.

Software and Guides

Every program the team uses, with the download link and a guide for each one. This is also where the How to Robot Book is — an introduction to mobile robotics written by members of the team, as a series of lab exercises.

Robo Parts

A reference for the parts that turn up in project after project — which motor, which encoder, which motor controller — with the datasheet, the CAD and the library for each. Worth reading before ordering anything.

Super Robo Time

The annual build event the team runs with UAS and the 3D Print Club: three or four weeks of workdays that end with a robot you built. Everything a team needs during it is on this page.

Links

Where the team's own files live — the shared drive, the code, the older archives. Most of these need a Mines account or an invitation from someone on the team.

Three things people often come to this page for that are somewhere else on the site.

The team's code

The Arduino libraries linked from the parts reference, and a good deal else besides, are public on GitHub. Anyone can read them; team members can push to them.

How the robots were built

The write-ups for each robot cover what was tried, what worked and what did not. They are the closest thing the team has to a record of its own mistakes.

When we are in the lab

Meetings, workdays and competition dates. Nothing on this page needs booking — turn up to a workday and someone will show you where things are.

Cannot find what you are after?

If something you needed was not here, it is worth asking — a lot of what the team knows has never been written down, and whoever answers can usually point you at the person who does know.
